Giampalma (32) spent nine years at Sheffield during which time she won a staggering twelve trophies which included six Premier League titles. On a personal level, the forward notched up over 270 appearances and scored in excess of 100 goals for the Yorkshire outfit.
According to Derby Manager, John Bennett, both the players and management are looking forward to working alongside Giampalma. "Everyone within the Premier League is aware of Lisa in terms of her quality and the standards that she and her Sheffield team mates set before they rightly took their place in the WSL. To score over 100 goals is an incredible feat, especially when you consider that Lisa started out as a central midfielder."
Giampalma admits that leaving Sheffield brings mixed emotion, however she is pleased to be joining a club with WSL ambitions of their own.
"Anyone that spends nine years at a club is going to miss that familiarity, especially when the club in question has enjoyed the level of success that we had at Sheffield. That said, I have been hugely impressed with what I have seen and heard about Derby and when you look at the players that they already have as well as the other new signings I believe that we have the ingredients to be successful."
