It looks like Costa's problems might be behind him

It looks like Costa's problems might be behind him

The Blues striker looks to have rediscovered his form just at the right time to push the Stamford Bridge outfit over the finishing line

Commitment, passion and hard work. For all his bad qualities, few can deny that Diego Costa possesses each of those attributes. Against Southampton they were all on show as he finally found the form required to nudge Chelsea towards the Premier League title.

Heading into the clash at Stamford Bridge, the Spain international was in the midst of his longest barren run in front of goal since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2014. For much of the first half, it seemed like that run may extend to seven games.
But when Cesc Fabregas floated a cross up to the back post, Costa was there to out-battle Ryan Bertrand and head home. A late second took him to 20 goals for the season. Suddenly things do not look so bad after all.

If Costa is back among the goals then Tottenham might as well give up on the title. Chelsea have had spells with Costa in-form and Eden Hazard in-form this season, but rarely both at the same time.
Hazard's fifth minute goal got Chelsea on their way on Tuesday, with Costa providing the assist - his first since 3 December against Manchester City. Hazard's finish was one of great skill but his real moment of genius was to make his goal celebration all about Costa.

The Belgian is the captain of his country and showed leadership by reaching out to his forward partner who has been bereft of confidence in recent weeks.

That said, Southampton responded well, with Oriol Romeu equalising from one of a series of set-pieces that troubled the Chelsea defence. The time for leaders was now.

Chelsea without John Terry, however, are far from leaderless, with Cesar Azpilicueta stepping up by producing a 60-yard run to close down Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster. This served as a reminder to Antonio Conte's side that wins do not come easy.

This time last week, Gary Cahill was in hospital as he suffered a severe virus, but a week later he scored the a captain's header at the end of the first half.

The momentum swung the game back into Chelsea's favour, and from there they needed just one more thing to cap off a perfect evening - a goal for Costa.

Michy Batshuayi has been reminded that he is well and truly second choice and he will be for the remainder of the season.

Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata or whomever Chelsea sign up front for next season might not find themselves walking into this team so easily. Whether he stay or goes, goals mean money with contract negotiations looking likely in the summer.

Hazard's best PL goalscoring season
Costa's number 19 shirt isn't in China yet and might not be next season. His work-rate was high, even when he was still waiting for his goal. In fact, Costa wanted it too much, getting involved in off-the-ball incidents and looking frustrated on the pitch.

It looks like Costa's problems might be behind him - and Chelsea can now smell the title.

See Kim Kardashian Unedited Photos!! She Called It "Hits Back At Haters”

She released an inflatable pool float in the shape of her peachy rear, just in time for summer. But Kim Kardashian, 36 , proved there ’ s nothing like the real thing, as she proudly paraded her bulbous behind in a skimpy bikini during a holiday in Mexico with sister Kourtney , 38, and assistant Stephanie Sheppard.

After complaining that her friends were ‘fat -shaming ’ her over unairbrushed pictures of her hourglass figure, Kim did what any body -confident beach babe would do and slipped on a thong , sticking a metaphorical middle figure up to the haters.

The Crazy Moment a Notorious Prankster Rushed to Kiss Kim K’s Butt Amid Security in Paris (Photos+Video)

Kim Kardashian is likely used to getting
her famous butt kissed, but not by a
notorious serial prankster, two years
after he ambushed her Balmain show.
Popular American reality TV star,
Kim Kardashian who was walking
down the street in Paris after leaving
the Balmain offices in the French
capital on Tuesday, narrowly missed
out on being tackled by serial
prankster, Vitalii Sediuk, who two
years ago, caused chaos by
ambushing her at Paris Fashion
Week.
According to Dailymail, Vitalii
slipped past security and tried to
tackle Kim Kardashian as he
appeared to try to kiss her famous
behind.
Luckily he was stopped before
reaching the TV superstar and was
pinned to the ground by her
bodyguards.
Sediuk came just inches away from
grappling Kim to the ground as he
ran and tried to grab her legs before
her assistant Stephanie Sheppard
and a minder sprung into action.
He was then pinned to the ground by
one burly bodyguard and tried to
cover his face as the attention turned
on him.
Kim seemed oblivious to the chaos
unfolding around her until the last
second, and looked shaken as she
was dragged away by the rest of her
entourage.
The incident comes exactly two years
since Sediuk caused havoc by trying
to grab Kim as she arrived for the
same brand’s presentation in 2014.

Europa League: Manchester United 1-0 Zorya (RESULT)

Manchester United climbed off the bottom of
their Europa League group with an uninspiring
win over Ukrainian minnows Zorya Luhansk.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the second-half winner with his
first goal in five matches, nodding in substitute Wayne
Rooney’s mis-hit shot at the far post.
It was United’s first effort on target, despite dominating at
Old Trafford.
Zorya offered little threat, although Sergio Romero had to
be alert to save Paulinho’s shot just before the winner.
The Red Devils are among the favourites to win Europe’s
secondary club competition, but started the evening at the
bottom of Group A following a 1-0 defeat at Dutch side
Feyenoord in their opening match.
And for more than an hour it looked as though Jose
Mourinho’s men would stay there.
Despite hogging over 70% of possession, United were slow
and ponderous in the final third as Zorya’s well-drilled
defence held firm.
But Zorya, making their debut in the Europa League group
stage, were undone inside two minutes of Rooney’s
introduction.
United move up to third, level on three points with
Feyenoord and one adrift of Turkish leaders Fenerbahce.
Who was your man of match?

Saudi Arabia deports 27 Christians for praying

CC
Saudi Arabia has deported 27 Christians, including children, for praying and celebrating a church festival in a private home.
The believers who are Lebanese Maronites, the largest Christian denomination in Lebanon, were arrested after religious police raided the home in Al Khafij, in the east of the country.
Details have only just emerged of the arrest and those involved were charged with "un-Islamic prayer," according to EWTN News.
The Christians said their prayers and celebrations were not an insult to Islam.
Saudi Arabia:
Population: 32.2 million, 1.4 million Christians
Main Religion: Islam
Government: Monarchy
World Watch List Rank: 14
Source of Persecution: Islamic extremism
In 2006, Saudi Arabia said Christians would be allowed to practice their faith in private settings.
The Islamic country ranks at number 14 on Open Doors World Watch List.

Converting from Islam to another religion is punishable by death in Saudi Arabia.
Open Doors says Christians in the country must keep their faith completely secret.
"If not executed by the state, they risk becoming the victim of an honour killing by a family member - leaving Islam is a great disgrace," it says.
It is estimated there are around 5,000 religious police in the country, but any Muslim can enforce the law themselves, for example removing a Rosary.

Goodnews! Prices Of Local Rice, Beans, Other Foodstuffs Crash

The price of foodstuffs have crashed further
in Bauchi state after months of soaring food
prices.
Checks in some of the major markets in the state
revealed that prices of foodstuffs have reduced by 50% ,
Daily Trust reports.
According to Malam Adamu Kafin Maigari, a grain
seller at Muda Lawal Market, Bauchi, a bag of maize
which few months ago was going for N18,000 now sells
for N9,000 while local rice that used to cost N35,000
is now being sold at N20,000.
He also said that a bag of beans is now sold at
N16,000 from its previous price of N25,000, while a
bag of millet and white rice popularly called Shinkafar
Tuwo, now cost N9,000 and N20,000 respectively
from their previous prices of N15,000 and N37,000.
Kafin Maigari attributed the crash in prices to the
bumper harvest recorded in the country following the
massive engagement in farming by many people.
However the grain seller expressed concern with the high
cost of foreign rice which is still sold at N18,500 per
bag.
He called on the federal government to address the
shortage of foreign currencies particularly the dollar, to
enable importers conduct their legal businesses without
hitches.
Meanwhile, the prices of food items have crashed in
Hadejia, Jigawa state. PM News reports that the crash
in food price is as a result of ‘a significant increase in
the supply of agricultural produce to the market’.
According to investigations by NAN at Hadejia market,
food prices were down by about 30 percent. Now, a bag
of millet goes for N14, 000 as against N18, 000 while
a bag of paddy rice went for N8, 500 as against its
previous price of N11, 000.

Shocking! Read The Confessions Of A Man Who Killed 114 Babies And Two Of His Sisters

According to reports, a former Ghanaian
ritualist known as Nana Wan, confessed to
killing lots of people including 114 babies
and two sisters, during his native doctor days.
Nana Wan who confessed his deeds at a deliverance
session in Resurrection Power Ministry church in Accra
on Sunday, September 25, said he did all he did in a
bid to be very wealthy. According to him, he ran to the
church after being told that he would be a dead man by
8pm on Monday, September 26.
Nana claimed to have become a ritualist after he was
forced to assume the role of a breadwinner to his family
after his father abandoned his mother and his five
siblings, about six years ago. He claims the hard time
they faced, made him follow 12 men to an island in
Benin Republic where he was introduced to marine
spirits. He reportedly went through two stages of rituals
before becoming a ‘certified’ native doctor/ritualist.
Nana also claims the marine spirit ordered him home to
Ghana, stating that whatever work he chose to do in one
week, would bring him riches beyond his wildest dreams.
Armed with that assurance, he went ahead to work
with a plantain seller for a week, and the day after, a
lady from the marine world who was reportedly the first
daughter of the mermaid, asked him how much wealth
he wanted.
He reportedly told her he wanted GH¢20 million (about
N2 billion), he was asked to go out and on his return,
he discovered that a bag he had in the room was
already filled with millions of cedis. He also said the
woman visited him every week to top up his ‘account’
and to also have s*x with him.
According to him, this continued for three whole years
until the marine spirit made a demand he couldn’t agree
to. He was reportedly asked to sacrifice a newborn baby
every two months, or risk dying like two other people
who joined the kingdom at the same time he did. In
order to make things easier for him, he found a nurse
at the 37 military hospital in Accra, whom he paid GH
¢100,000 (about N10 million) per transaction, to get
him new born babies. He reportedly sacrificed a total of
114 babies, before he pleaded with the marine spirit to
allow him change his mode of sacrifice.
Nana Wan’s sacrifice now changed from sacrificing
newborns, to having s*x with the spirit daily, and he
almost died from the frequent s*x and also discovered he
urinated blood almost all the time.
He was eventually asked to bring members of his family
for the sacrifice to save his life, and he ended up
offering his son and two of his sisters. He revealed that
he sacrificed his sisters who the marine spirits killed
through road accidents while driving the Range Rover
jeeps he gifted them. The marine spirits however did not
stop at killing his sisters, they demanded for his
mother’s life as well and despite his pleas to have her
spared, the spirits insisted.
Nana Wan said his mother was saved after heeding a
prophet’s warning against receiving the car her son
bought in her name. His mother’s rejection caused the
marine spirit to give him a deadline about his death
(one month). Facing his imminent death, he ran to
different churches and eventually ended up at the
Resurrection church where he repented and was
delivered, and told that he would lose all the wealth he
got from the marine world.

An Ethiopian housemaid who is convicted of killing the

the execution was carried out after the death sentence
was endorsed by the king.

girl in June 2013, allegedly in retaliation for her
family’s ill-treatment.
Monday’s beheading brings to 119 the total number of
executions so far this year in the conservative kingdom.
According to international rights groups, Saudi Arabia is
among the top executioners in the world.
On Jan. 2, authorities beheaded 47 people, including a
prominent Shiite cleric, on terrorism-related charges.
Report says Saudi Arabia has imposed death penalty for

and witchcraft.
The kingdom, which applies a strict interpretation of
Islamic law, has repeatedly rejected calls to end the

Problem!! NLC To Protest Nationwide Due To Assets Sale By President Buhari

The Nigeria Labour Congress has said it will
mobilise Nigerians for nationwide protests to
resist the plan by the Federal Government to
sell strategic assets under the guise of using
the funds to be generated to get the country
out of recession.
The President of the NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, said the
consequences of the proposed sale of the strategic assets
would be more grievous if Nigerians did not stop the
government from carrying out the policy.
He made the comment on Monday in Abuja while
inaugurating a think-tank of the NLC and the
Academic Staff Union of Universities, entrusted with
the responsibility of leading the intellectual engagement
with the Federal Government on the contentious move to
sell the country’s assets.
According to him, the NLC is making preparations to
battle the Federal Government in courts to prevent the
planned sale of the assets, explaining that the congress
had secured the services of 20 volunteer lawyers, who
had offered their services to the NLC on the issue.
The members of the 10-man NLC’s ‘Think-Tank on
Socio-Economic Issues’ are a former President of
ASUU, Dr. Dipo Fashina; Prof. Toye Olorode, Dr.
Mohammed Aliyu, Dr. Mustapha Usman and Dr. Isaac
Nwogugu.
Other members of the committee are Dr. Yemisi
Bamgbose, Mr. Issa Aremu, Mr. Sonny Atuma, Dr.
Peter Ozo-Eson, and Mr. Auwal Mustapha, who is the
secretary.
Wabba stated, “While it is important to rescue our
country from the current economic recession, sale of our
commonwealth and strategic assets is certainly not a
move in the right direction, and all Nigerians must have
the courage to oppose it.
“All the (national) assets are under threat depending on
the interest of who is speaking; the NLNG, refineries, all
the assets are presently under threat. If we work
together, then we can try to defend these assets. It will
take the effort of all of us to stop them.
“Nobody will buy what is not profitable. That is why
people are looking in the direction of the most
profitable.”
Wabba stressed that the problem with Nigeria was
corruption, which had become endemic in both the
private and public sectors, and not the economic model to
use.
The NLC president believed that politicians, who stole so
much money and had been hiding the loot, were looking
for ways to buy the assets with their looted funds.
Wabba assured Nigerians that organised labour was
united in the quest to preserve the nation’s strategic
assets for Nigerians and future generations.
“We are sure of ourselves; this is of concern to every
citizen. We should not allow the bidding of those few
who don’t mean well for the country. On the issue of
selling out, we are on the same page, we will do
everything possible to try to work together.
“We shouldn’t be discouraged because of the fact that
we envisage sabotage or an effort to undermine the
struggle. In every struggle, there would be moves to
sabotage such,” he added.
ACF, economists oppose sale of national assets
Meanwhile, opposition against the plan of the Federal
Government to sell some national assets continued to
mount on Monday as the Arewa Consultative Forum and
the Nigerian Economic Society condemned the proposal,
asking the Federal Government to rescind its decision to
sell the assets.
The NEC stated that the decision of the government did
not make economic sense in the face of the current
challenges.
It faulted the argument by the government that the
proceeds of the sale would be used to fund the 2016
budget, noting that the sale of the assets would further
widen the level of income inequality in the country.
The President, NES, Prof. Ben Aigbokan, stated this in
an interview with journalists on the forthcoming national
conference of the society on Monday in Abuja.
Aigbokan described the approach being adopted by the
government as “generationally irresponsible”.
The conference, scheduled to commence on Tuesday
(today), has as its theme ‘‘The developmental state and
diversification of the Nigerian economy’’.
The NES president added, “It is an irony that the
government is planning to sell some of our national assets
at this time because it is a contradiction of one of the
policies of government, which is sustainable development.
“The economics of selling national assets now at a time
of economic recession is very poor because we will not get
a good value for these assets, because people understand
that the county is in need of money.
“If you sacrifice our national assets now because we are
in need of money, what do you leave for the future
generations?
“So, generationally, it is irresponsible to sell these assets
without subjecting the decision to a referendum because
all Nigerians have a stake in them.”
Also, the ACF on Monday argued that it was needless
for the Federal Government to sell off national assets to
bail out Nigeria from its current economic woes.
The pan-northern socio-political organisation, through
its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammadu Ibrahim,
argued that the bloated allowances of public officers,
which he said accounted for 40 per cent of the national
budget, should be converted to capital allocation to boost
the economy.
The ACF argued that selling off national assets to
service the economy was completely “unwise” as such
move never yielded the desired results in the past.
The statement read in part, “The growing calls by some
prominent politicians and business tycoons on the Federal
Government to consider the selling of strategic, viable
national assets as an option to take the economy out of
recession at this material time are inappropriate.
“Past privatisation did not yield the desired result in
terms of judicious use of proceeds by the government or
management of the assets by the new owners. Moreover,
the amount to be realised is not worth the exercise.
“Government enterprises like the Nigeria Airways,
Nigeria National Shipping Line, Ajaokuta Steel
Company, NITEL, PHCN, etc, that were sold to selected
Nigerians and their foreign collaborators in the spirit of
privatisation, only succeeded in converting public
enterprises to private ones, and some later became
comatose. The ones that survived, their service delivery
cannot be said to be better.
“ACF therefore considers it unwise for the Federal
Government to contemplate the selling of our major
national assets like the crude oil refineries, federal
airports, NLNG, while we can use them as security
against needed funds to boost the economy, as the
recession is considered to be temporary.
“In addition, ACF wishes to suggest that unnecessary
allowances of public officers and overhead cost that form
over 40 per cent of our annual budget should be
converted to capital allocation to boost the economy.
“This is the time for national sacrifice in order to
bequeath an enduring legacy to the next generation.
Positive change usually comes with painful necessary
sacrifice.”
On its own, the National Union of Textile, Garments
and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria has cautioned
President Muhammadu Buhari against the sale of the
nation’s assets.
A member of the National Executive Council of the NLC,
Mr. Issa Aremu, in a statement in Kaduna on Monday,
said Nigeria was not short of resources, arguing that
the nation lacked “genuine resourceful leaders at all
levels”.

Iheanacho Insists Praise Does Not Get Into His Head Despite Scoring For Fun Under Guardiola

Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho has said
he is not allowing recent encomiums get into
head.
The Super Eagles forward has attracted a lot of praise
from fans and pundits alike, as Pep Guardiola’s team
maintain a perfect start in the new season.
Iheanacho has found himself deputising for Sergio
Aguero during the Argentine’s three-match ban and
became the first Nigerian player to feature and score in
a Manchester Derby.
The 19-year-old insists he still has a lot to learn and
is keeping his head down.
“I’m not letting all the praise get to my head because I
still have a lot to learn in this game,” Iheanacho told
BBC Sport.
“It’s been a very progressive period for me at the club,
but playing alongside stars like Sergio [Aguero], Yaya
[Toure] and other great players provides a big chance to
keep working hard.
“I’m definitely learning, quietly listening and watching
others closely every day – I know in doing that I will
achieve bigger things in my career.
“We have experienced players in the team and as
someone who is learning and improving, I am happy to
take my chance when the manager calls,” he continued.
“Our manager has confidence in me and has been
encouraging me.
“All I want to do right now is to keep learning under
him and work hard for the club.
“I score goals not just because I am playing up front but
because I get to play in a fantastic team.
“Our defenders and midfielders supply the passes and
support for me to deliver, so it is a collective effort.”

Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former Petroleum Resources Minister, purchased Port Harcourt’s Le Meridien Hotel for $25million from a former Rivers State military administrator, Anthony Akpo, SaharaReporters learned at the weekend.

Our sources say that the transaction was carried out using several persons, including Dauda Lawal, a First Bank of Nigeria Executive Director.
Lawal’s role, according to investigators at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was to pick up from Skye Bank in Lagos and innocuously drop off $25million cash into a bank account at Sterling Bank PLC.
The directive to pick up the huge cash haul was coordinated by Stanley Lawson, a former group executive director of Finance and accounts at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
During EFCC interrogations, Dauda claimed he did not know that the transaction was aimed at purchasing Le Meriden Hotel in Port Harcourt, and that he was only helping a friend, Mr. Lawson, to run errands.
People knowledgeable about Mr. Lawal’s closeness to Diezani, which some say sometimes appeared to be romantic, said he may not be telling the whole truth.
Lawal was one of the bankers arrested by the EFCC in a recent fraud-related raid of high profile bankers involved in financial crimes perpetrated by Mrs. Alison-Madueke.
Others include Herbert Wigwe of Access Bank PLC, Nnamdi Okonkwo of Fidelity Bank PLC, and Yemi Adeola, the MD of Standard Bank PLC.
Le Meriden hotel was conceived as a five-star hotel. It was built in 2003 by retired Brigadier General Ukpo with the help of Julius Berger, the construction company with whom he became acquainted during his early days first as the military administrator of Rivers state and later as the Principal Secretary to former Military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida.
Ukpo sold the 87-room luxury hotel to Mrs. Alison-Madueke through a web of actors with the hope that no one would find out.
After the EFCC discovered the fraudulent sale, Ukpo reportedly offered to hand over the hotel to the federal government, but President Buhari is believed to have rejected the offer, saying the government has no business managing a hotel, and insisting that Ukpo return $25m to the federation account.
It is unclear why the former army chief has not yet been arrested.
