At least 20 hotel rooms have been broken into in Magaluf
Police have arrested two British tourists accused of forcing their way into at least 20 hotel rooms in Magaluf to steal valuables including laptops and mobile phones.
Detectives say holidaymakers were inside their rooms on four of the occasions the criminal pair struck.
They allegedly passed themselves off as other guests to force doors to the rooms and pinch valuables.
Further arrests haven’t been ruled out.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard said in a press release: “The Civil
Guard has arrested two British men as alleged authors of a string of burglaries .

“The pair were arrested on Saturday inside a Magaluf hotel after breaking in to several of its rooms.
“The officers discovered they were staying at another hotel in the same resort after their detention.
“They
were passing themselves off as British tourists and once inside forcing
the doors to the rooms and taking valuables inside.
“They even acted when hotel guests were in their rooms.
“During
a search of the room where the suspects were staying, we confiscated a
number of mobiles and laptops as well as money which we subsequently
discovered had been reported as stolen.
“At present 20 of the break-ins have been resolved, including four where hotel guests were inside their rooms.
“The investigation is continuing and the participation of other individuals in these crimes has not been ruled out.”
The
British pair, who have not been named, are expected to be remanded in
custody after appearing before an investigating judge in a private court
hearing.
