Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum will undergo a
medical on Friday ahead of his proposed move to Liverpool, a source has
told ESPN FC.
Sources told ESPN FC on Thursday that the two clubs had agreed a fee and the Dutch international would take his medical "as soon as possible."
The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds will pay Newcastle around £23 million upfront with another possible £2m in add-ons for the services of the 25-year-old.
The midfielder joined the North-East club in July 2015 for a fee of £14.5m from PSV Eindhoven and featured in every single one of Newcastle's Premier League fixtures last season.
He scored 11 goals and provided five assists in his first season in England but could not prevent the Magpies' relegation to the Championship.
Wijnaldum could become Liverpool second signing of the week after they completed a deal to bring defender Ragnar Klavan to Anfield from Augsburg on Wednesday.
