Being a politician doesn't leave much time for leisure activities like watching sports, so their attempts to communicate to their audience using sports references or analogies almost always feel more forced than genuine. Both Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina have found that out the hard way this election cycle, and now Speaker of the House Paul Ryan joins the ranks of politicians who should stick to something other than sports.
In trying to get the GOP convention Texas delegation firmly behind Donald Trump, Ryan tried and failed to appeal to the sports fans inside the members of his audience.

No, Speaker Ryan. This would never happen. That is not how being a sports fan works, and this is definitely not how being an Aggie fan works, as several Twitter users responding to this tweet were quick to point out.
