A group, Forum of Uncommon Women, has
condemned the alleged attack on the convoy of the
wife of the governorship candidate of the Peoples
Democratic Party, Dr. Idia Ize-Iyamu, calling on
President Muhammadu Buhari to provide a level
playing field for all political parties.
The group made the call on Thursday after a
meeting to assess political developments in the state.
The convoy of Ize-Iyamu’s wife was reportedly
attacked on Tuesday during a shop-to-shop
campaign in a market in the Etsako Local
Government Area.
She was, however, said to have escaped unhurt.
But the Director General of FUW, Mrs. Philomena
Ihenhen, urged President Buhari to see the
September 28 governorship election as a litmus test
of the sincerity of his administration in ensuring a
free, fair and credible poll.
“Although the wife of the candidate was unhurt,
several women in her entourage sustained various
injuries with one or two cars damaged. We condemn
this attack and consider it an affront on the entire
Edo womenfolk,” Ihenhen said.
She described voters in the state as enlightened
residents who were ready to protect their votes.
She also said that the election was critical to the
political development of the country, adding that
Nigerians, in general, were watching to see its
outcome.
Ihenhen added, “The Edo election is a litmus test of
the sincerity of the Buhari administration.
“Let it be said for the deaf to hear that Edo people
are ready to defend their mandate and will not
allow a subversion or corruption of our collective
will.”
While calling on security agencies to remain firm in
their bid to stem rigging and violence during the
election, she also urged them to provide protection for
all citizens, no matter their political affiliation.
Ihenhen said, “We are all equal stakeholders in the
Edo project, in spite of our political and ethic roots
or leanings. We have a right under the law to be
served and protected by the security agencies,
especially the police.

The Spiritual Leader of INRI Spiritual and Evangelical Church, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has said the body of Christ in Nigeria must unite in order to guide and help leaders to govern diligently.
Ayodele in a chat with DAILY P POST insisted that without a common front, it will be hard for public officials to take words of wisdom from Christians seriously.
The renowned seer also lambasted men of God who have access to government leaders but fail to tell them the true feelings of Nigerians.
“There cannot be unity in Nigeria’s Christendom until God gives us the right leader. That is the truth and that is why I’m not a member of CAN,” he said.
“Pastors nowadays interpret the Bible to what suits them, not what the Bible really says. Anyone called by God does not need to be taught the Bible.
“It is divine, so even when your mentor or teacher takes you through, you understand easily.
“But I have observed that some clerics that attended seminary or Bible school still don’t understand the content.
“If they do, why will such persons go to President, Governors, Ministers, Lawmakers, heads of key agencies and other influential people and say ‘all is well’ when it is a lie; they can’t speak for the people.
“The Bible does not support deception and God will deal with them because when other clerics go to those office holders and say ‘all is not well, things are not going right’, they will say ‘but your colleagues have assured that all is well.’
On allegations that some Christian leaders were corrupt, Ayodele said the accusation is true judging by the lifestyle of some of his colleagues.
“We have many selfish Christian leaders, people who only fight for their own, their pocket, their family and what they will eat.
“When you look at it, some Pastors are corrupt; I say again Nigerian Pastors are corrupt.
“Many Pastors clamour for relevance and do all they can to get into the good books of those in positions of authority.
“And because they seek patronage and want to be the one people in power will be calling and inviting, they see the truth and look the other way.
“That aside, you must have passed places where you find the branch of a Church at the beginning of a street. Move ahead and you’ll find that same Church at the end of the street.
“In some areas, you’ll count 5 or 10 of the same Church and they will tell you that ‘we want to be everywhere’; my brother it is corruption because that is how they realise bulk money.
“Proliferation of Churches is corruption. No other word to describe it.”
President Muhammadu Buhari says it is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that the Ogoni clean-up remains on course despite the current challenges in the Niger Delta.
He spoke at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday while inaugurating the Governing Council and Board of Trustees of the Trust Fund for the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) for the Implementation of the UNEP Report.
“It is exactly five years today, on the 4th of August 2011, the United Nations Environment Programme submitted an extensive Report on its environmental assessment of Ogoniland. That report, which was commissioned by the Administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, did not only document the problems that existed, but also contained recommendations on how they can be addressed, both in the short term and in the long term.
“Five years on, the project is yet to properly take off. It would appear to have experienced a series of false starts, while the local communities continue to suffer from the problem, which has existed long before the Report. This all adds to the picture described in the UNEP Report as a landscape characterized by a lack of trust, paralysis and blame,” Buhari said.
The president said he was pleased to note that while it had been five years since the UNEP Report, it had taken only two months since his administration flagged off the project.
He assured that in addition to the management and administration structure, other systems and controls were being put in place to ensure that the funds devoted for this project are used only for the intended purpose.
He urged the local communities, especially the youth who he said would be the direct beneficiaries of the exercise, to work with his administration in ensuring the security of the projects and persons implementing them.
Chairman of the Governing Council and Minister of Environment Amina Muhammed said the funding structure of the project included $1 billion for the first five years
A man is being made to answer for his crime after he was found out to have r*ped a young girl after school.
The man identified as Chimezie Nwosu, a 32-year-old, has been arraigned in court.
He was arraigned in an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly r*ping a 10-year-old pupil.
According to Punch Metro, Nwosu was arraigned on Wednesday on one count of rape before a magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adegbite.
It was learnt that the victim, Deborah (pseudonym) and Nwosu lived in
the same compound on Marwa Road, Satellite Town, Lagos State.
The girl was reportedly returning from school around 2pm on June 8
when Nwosu called her to his room on the pretext of sending her on an
errand. But he shut the door instead.
He was said to have forcefully removed her clothes and raped her
while she cried for help. It was also learnt that neighbours, who heard
the cry, alerted Deborah’s elder brother.
Punch Metro reports that they all rushed to Nwosu’s apartment to
rescue the girl while the case was reported at the Satellite Police
Division.
In her statement to the police, Deborah reportedly said, “I just
stepped into the compound on the way from school that day when Mr.
Chimezie (Nwosu) called me. He said he wanted me to help him to buy
something and I entered his room.
“He shut the door and removed my clothes and slept on me. He told me to stop shouting and put his thing (m*****d) in my bumbum.”
However, Nwosu, who hails from Umuovum village in the Oweri-North
Local Government Area, Imo State, denied raping the girl, saying the
allegation was an attempt to blackmail him.
A police prosecutor, Francisca Job, who brought the defendant before
the court, said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law
of Lagos State, 2011.
The charge read, “That you, Chimezie Nwosu, on June 8, 2016, at about
2pm on Marwa Road, Satellite Town, Lagos, in the Apapa Magisterial
District, did unlawfully have sexual intercourse with a 10-year-old girl
without her consent, thereby committing an offence punishable under
Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty and elected summary trial.
The magistrate, Adegbite, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
While adjourning the case till August 11, 2016, Adegbite added that
the sureties must be residents of Lagos State and must tender evidence
of tax payments to the prosecutor for verification.
Rampaging militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, on Thursday announced its new twitter account.
The group which has claimed responsibility for several attacks on
pipeline installations in the oil rich region had its social media
handle blocked recently by Twitter Corporation.
Avengers account was said to have been suspended in line with
Twitter’s policy, which detailed specific rule pertaining to violent
threats.
The rule states that, “you may not make threats of violence or promote violence, including threatening or promoting terrorism.”
But spokesman of the group, Mudoch Agbinibo in a statement, said, “We
are officially saying that @agbiniboND is our new official twitter
account handle. Twitter can block or suspend our account but they can’t
stop or block our struggle.”

The withdrawal of admission lists which was released by the Joint
Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been criticised by an
educationist.
Dr Victor Akinola, the Director, Information and Communication
Technology at Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, Lagos,
described the withdrawal as an embarrassment.
On July 30, JAMB withdrew the lists of recommended candidates for admissions earlier sent to the tertiary institutions.
The don said, “The withdrawal could have been avoided if the board had planned well before the scrapping of post-UTME.
“The candidates whose names had been sent earlier to the universities would definitely be demoralised.
“This unfolding event could have been avoided if there had been
proper planning by the board before the scrapping of post UTME,’’ he
told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“Democratically, universities should have an upper hand in
determining the students to be admitted following the laid down rules
and objectives.’’
The don said the opportunity now given to tertiary institutions to
choose their candidates should have been the first thing to do before
the post-UTME was scrapped.
The Emir of Kano, HRH, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has accused the immediate
past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan of leading Nigeria
into its current economic recession.
Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, made the remark
on Wednesday at the deregulation of the downstream oil sector and
Nigeria’s economic Development at the National Defence College, Abuja.
“Nigeria is bankrupt, we are bankrupted by a policy that was foolish,
that was unrealistic, and unsustainable and by all means our refusal
over the years to listen.”
The Emir wondered why some people were surprised that the economy was in recession when it was “created by past government.
“We are surprised that we have an economic recession. We are actually
surprised that we are in recession when we created the recession,’’
Sanusi said
Have you ever gone shopping and forgot
where you parked your car? It’s happened to all of us. And wandering
through the parking lot on a hot day clicking the panic button so your
alarm goes off can be frustrating and irritating.
Now you don’t need an expensive GPS unit
or annoying monthly subscription service to keep tabs on your car. You
can track your vehicle without breaking the bank and it’s easier than you ever thought it could be!
As you know, most aftermarket GPS
tracking units are expensive and must be installed by a professional.
Similar services offered by car manufacturers as a “concierge service”
are actually expensive monthly subscriptions that they conveniently hide
in you car payment. Either way, they are both costly and require you to
pay a monthly bill just to maintain the service. But don’t we already
pay enough monthly bills?
The good news for you is technology is
solving many of life’s most annoying problems: Like losing and
forgetting where you parked your car!
One company has created a tiny device with an advanced tracking app that works with iPhone or Android phones and it could be exactly what you’re looking for.
What is it?
It’s called TrackR, it’s about the size of a quarter and it’s revolutionizing the way we keep track of our important things.
How does it work?
Simple! You only need to install the thin battery in the TrackR, download the free app on your iPhone or Android, link the device to the app and then attach TrackR to whatever you want to keep tabs on. In less than 5 minutes you are ready to go!
Once it’s all set up you can even
attach it to your suitcases when you travel, cars, your keys, your
wallet, your expensive electronics and anything else you can think of.
The possibilities are endless!
Tracking your stuff really is that easy. No monthly subscriptions or bills to pay! You have enough stress to deal with – let TrackR keep tabs on your valuables while you tend to life’s real problems.
Lets say you want to track your car, simply hide the tiny device anywhere like under the floor mats, in the glove compartment or in the trunk. (Somewhere it won’t be found if your car gets stolen!)
Now, if you ever forget where you parked your car you can quickly find it using your smartphone. All you need to do is open the app on your phone, click on the “find device” icon and it will tell you exactly where the TrackR was last seen and the coordinates of it’s current location.
Check out the video below if you want to see it in action.
You’re probably wondering, “how much is this thing going to cost me?”
Unlike most of the GPS tracking units sold today, the TrackR only costs $29! That’s a small price to pay for peace of mind isn’t it?
Now you’re probably wondering “Where can I buy one?”
As we said before the TrackR has unlimited possibilities. Do you have a pet that is always getting lost? Attach it to their collar and track them when they run out of the house. Do you find yourself misplacing your wallet or keys too often? Then attach it to them and never worry about them again!
The TrackR
even comes with two sided tape so you can stick it to flat surfaces
like underneath bike seats or your expensive electronic devices (because
bikes & electronics are easy targets for thieves!)
Attach it to anything that’s important, valuable or easy to lose and then relax…
Now that you’re aware of the potential of
this genius invention, we’ll go over how easy it is to use & set
up, just so you don’t have any doubts:
Buy the TrackR today and it will be delivered to you in about a week.
When you get it, install the battery in
the TrackR, download the app on your iPhone or Android and link the
device to the app, and then hide the device in your car (or attach it to
anything else you want to track)
Relax. Now you don’t have to worry about losing your valuables. TrackR has you covered!
PRO TIP: TrackR is a great gift idea because THERE IS NO MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION!
They have an amazing summertime sale
going on right now and if you buy 4 TrackR’s they will send you 4
additional Trackr’s for FREE!
So pick up 4 TrackR’s and get 4
for FREE so you and your family can keep track of everything:
Suitcases, pets, keys, bikes, toys, and even electronics like your iPad,

The teens found dead behind a
Georgia grocery store were shot in the head, the Medical Examiner said
Tuesday evening, as police searched for answers in the double homicide.
The
victims, identified as Natalie Henderson and Carter Davis, both 17,
were found dead by a delivery driver behind a Publix supermarket in
Roswell, shortly before 6 a.m. Monday, the Roswell Police Department
said.
Roswell police told ABC News there were "indications...it was a relationship-based crime but that can’t be confirmed yet."
Police said detectives are reviewing surveillance video, looking for witnesses and following up on leads.
Natalie,
a rising senior at Roswell High School, was "whip-smart, funny, sassy,
and strong, a free spirit with a gorgeous smile that could make your day
or your week," her mother told ABC News.

She was a lifeguard, in the school band, "a talented singer
with a voice much bigger than her petite body, a guitar player, and a
lover of animals who volunteered countless hours to animal rescue," her
mother said. "Natalie had a loving heart and an infectious zest for
life. Unusual for one so young, she had the courage to always be,
unapologetically, herself."
Carter
was a senior at River Ridge High School, where he "excelled in the
classroom and was always willing to help out classmates," Principal B.
Darrell Herring said in a letter to parents Monday.
"Carter was an
energetic student who was known as a friend to all. He always came to
class in a good mood and with a smile on his face," Herring said.
Carter
played football and was also on the lacrosse team, where he "shined"
Herring said. He aspired to play lacrosse in college.
“We all are
devastated by this tragic news," said Barbara Jacoby, spokesperson for
the Cherokee County School District which includes River Ridge High
School. "Carter excelled in the classroom and on the field and will be
greatly missed by many friends. He should be enjoying the first days of
his senior year of high school, which is a special time for every child
and family. Grief counselors are available on campus to assist
students."
Publix spokeswoman
Brenda Reid told ABC News that the company could not comment on an open
investigation but added, "Our prayers and thoughts are with the family
members of those two young people. We just pray for their peace of mind
and recovery."

The women demanded for government intervention to stop the alleged

Spokesperson of the protesters, Mrs Deborah Reuben, accused the
government of insensitivity to their plight since the incident started

A former Chief Whip of the Senate and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Rowland Owie, has begged President Muhammadu Buhari to forget the past and govern Nigeria with the fear of God.
Owie said, rather than going back to the past on how he was overthrown in 1985, Buhari should focus on how best to make Nigeria great. In a statement yesterday, Senator Owie asked the President to face governance for which he was elected by Nigerians.
According to dailypost,The PDP chieftain frowned at a situation where the President could not acknowledge former President Goodluck Jonathan during the commissioning of the Abuja- Kaduna rail line, knowing full well that the project was executed by Jonathan.
He said: “I urge President Buhari to face the job for which he was elected by Nigerians and stop chasing shadows. He should know that among those who worked for his success in the 2015 general election were many Nigerians whose parents, friends, well wishers were unjustly imprisoned by Buhari’s regime of 1984.
“They all supported him in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015, because the only thing that helps any human community to move forward and develop is forgiveness and letting bygone be bygone. “For Buhari to be talking about issues of 1984 when God has given him victory in a democratic election, which by the antecedents of his first coming, did not, by human standard, deserve, he ought to be daily grateful to God, his party that gave him ticket and Nigerians that voted for him.”

Florida confirmed Monday 10
more homegrown cases of Zika in people infected by local mosquitoes,
leading federal health officials to advise women who are pregnant to
avoid the area just north of downtown Miami where Zika is spreading.
Women
who have visited the Wynwood neighborhood in Miami since June 15 should
avoid getting pregnant for at least eight weeks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Zika, which can cause devastating birth defects, appears to have begun spreading among mosquitoes in this area around June 15.
CDC
officials believe this is the first time that the federal health agency
has warned people to avoid a community in the continental U.S., said
agency spokesman Tom Skinner.
At Florida's request, the CDC is
sending an emergency response team to the state to help control the
outbreak. Two CDC staff are already working in Florida, with six more
planning to join them.
The new Zika cases in Miami bring the
number of Zika infections spread by local mosquitoes — as opposed to
foreign travel — to 14.
Controlling the cluster of Zika cases is
proving difficult, CDC director Tom Frieden said, noting that more
diagnoses related to the neighborhood are possible.
"We don't have
ideal ways to control the mosquitoes that control Zika," Frieden said.
"In Miami, aggressive mosquito control measures don't seem to be working
as well as we would have liked."
All pregnant women should take
steps to prevent mosquito bites, Frieden said. The mosquito species that
spreads Zika, the Aedes aegypti, lives in 30 states, in addition to
territories such as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
USA TODAY
CDC: All pregnant women should be assessed for Zika exposure
According
to the CDC, 1,658 people in the continental U.S. and Hawaii have been
diagnosed with Zika. Nearly 20% of those cases have been in Florida.
The
true number of Zika cases in the U.S. is likely "many times" higher
than these totals, Frieden said, because four of five people with Zika
have no symptoms. Those who do develop symptoms tend to have fevers, a
rash, pink eye, joint pain and other symptoms.
The local cases in
Miami are a major development, because — with the exception of one Zika
case related to a lab accident — all of the Zika infections in the U.S.
until now have been been diagnosed in people who traveled abroad or in
people who had sex with a traveler. Although Zika is largely spread by
mosquitoes, both men and women can transmit the virus sexually.
The
Florida Zika outbreak so far is limited to a 1-square-mile area just
north of downtown Miami, Gov. Rick Scott said Monday. Six of the 10
people infected with Zika had no symptoms and were identified through
door-to-door community outreach, according to Florida officials.
Mosquito
control staff in Miami have used pyrethroid insecticides, which don't
appear to be working, Frieden said. It's possible that the mosquitoes
are resistant to the insecticides or that the mosquitoes are breeding in
hidden areas that works aren't able to find.
Controlling
mosquitoes in an area as diverse as Wynwood, the Miami area where the
outbreak is centered, is also challenging, Frieden said.
In the
past decade, Wynwood has been transformed from a warehouse district to a
bustling artistic enclave, with studios, bars and outdoor restaurants
all around. With so many tourists and locals teeming throughout the
colorful neighborhood, Wynwood has become one of the most
pedestrian-heavy sections of a city where people rarely walk due to the
overwhelming heat.
The Design District, just north of Wynwood, has
grown into a high-end retail destination with wine tastings luring
wealthy clients from South Florida, Latin America and beyond. The
streets are lined with restaurants and stores including Bulgari, Fendi,
Giorgio Armani, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Tom Ford.
Tucked
in between, Midtown has seen a construction boom with a mega-mall and
several high-rise condos to respond to the growing demand of people
wanting to move into the revitalized pocket of Miami.
USA TODAY
Zika Q&A: What you need to know about the virus
The
CDC warned pregnant women to avoid places with ongoing Zika outbreaks,
including Puerto Rico, in January. But public health experts say they
can't remember the last time that a federal agency told people to avoid a
community in the U.S. because of an outbreak.
The last outbreak
that led people to avoid an American city may have been polio in the
1940s, said infectious disease expert William Schaffner, a professor of
preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in
Nashville. Although health officials back then told people to avoid New
York City to reduce their risk of polio, that was before the formation
of the CDC.
Gov. Scott advised women with questions about Zika to talk to their doctors.
“While
we continue to learn more about this virus each day, we know that it is
most harmful to pregnant women and their babies," Scott said. "For
women who live or work in the impacted area and are either pregnant or
thinking of becoming pregnant, I urge you to contact your OB/GYN for
guidance and to receive a Zika prevention kit."
Frieden said scientists are learning more about Zika every day.
Jose Wesley, who screams
uncontrollably for long stretches, is attended to in Bonito, Pernambuco
state, Brazil.
Felipe Dana, AP
"What we know about Zika is scary," Frieden said. "What we don’t know about Zika is even more unsettling."
Advising
travelers to avoid any part of Florida is a sensitive decision, given
the importance of tourism for the state's economy. Scott noted that a
record 30 million tourists have visited Florida this year.
Zika
has been diagnosed in at least 855 pregnant women, with about half of
those cases in Puerto Rico, according to the CDC. Thirteen babies in the
U.S. have been born with Zika-related birth defects, and seven
pregnancies have been lost to miscarriage or abortion due to Zika.
The
U.S. has been able to contain past clusters of mosquito-borne diseases
with aggressive mosquito control. Those outbreaks have included dengue
outbreaks in Texas in 2013 and the Florida Keys in 2009. Federal health
officials have predicted that the continental U.S. is likely to
experience clusters of Zika cases, but probably won't see the sort of
large-scale epidemic that has hit Brazil, where Zika cases have been
concentrated in crowded urban slums where residents have no screens or
air conditioning.
In
Miami, health officials have gone door-to-door to talk to residents
about Zika. They've taken samples from more than 200 people who live or
work near those diagnosed with Zika, all in Miami-Dade or Broward
counties, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Health
workers tested close contacts and community members within a 150-meter
radius of the area where Zika patients were infected, because that's the
maximum distance that the Aedes aegypti mosquito has been known to
travel.
In all, Florida health officials have tested more than 2,300 people across the state for Zika since the outbreak began.
The
health department has conducted testing for the Zika virus for more
than 2,300 people statewide, including travelers who were tested after
returning from an area where the virus was spreading widely. Contributing: Alan Gomez.
The father of a Muslim-American Army captain killed in Iraq offered a
challenge to Donald Trump during a speech at the Democratic National
Convention. Khizr Kahn's son, Humayun Khan, was killed during Operation
Iraqi Freedom in 2004.
As
the feud between the Republican nominee and Khizr and Ghazala Khan (the
parents of a fallen soldier) continues, Donald Trump is being
criticized from Republicans and Democrats alike. How exactly did we get

Khan blasts Trump's 'ignorance,' as feud continues
December 2015
After
Donald Trump called for a temporary ban on Muslims coming into the
United States, Khizr Khan, whose son Humayun Khan was killed in Iraq in
2004, spoke out against the GOP front-runner. In an interview with Vocativ, Kahn said Trump’s values did not represent American values.
“We
are proud American citizens. It’s the values [of this country] that
brought us here, not our religion. Trump’s position on these issues do
not represent those values,” Khan, a Pakistani-born Muslim, said.
“We
still wonder what made him take those 10 steps [towards the car],” Khan
continued, describing the incident where his son lost his life after a
suicide bombing. “Maybe that’s the point where all the values, all the
service to country, all the things he learned in this country kicked in.
It was those values that made him take those 10 steps. Those 10 steps
told us we did not make [a] mistake in moving to this country. These
were the values we wanted to adopt. Not religious values, human values,”
he said.
Hillary
Clinton paid tribute to Khan’s son in late December, saying that Capt.
Humayun Khan represented “the best of America.” She quoted Khan’s line
about the 10 steps from the Vocativ interview.

Khan spoke on the final night of the Democratic convention, giving a moving tribute to his son before bashing Trump.
"If
it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have even been in America,"
Khan said. "He vows to build walls and ban us from this country. Donald
Trump, you're asking Americans to trust you with their future. Let me
ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution?"
Khan held up a pocket Constitution and offered to lend it to Trump.
"You have have sacrificed nothing, and no one," he finished.
July 29,2016
The Khans appeared in an interview with MSNBC's The Last Word. Ghazala
Khan said that being on stage was very hard "because I cannot see my
son's picture, I cannot even come in the room where his pictures are."
Khan
made an emotional plea for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell,
R-Ky., and House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to "repudiate Trump."
July 30, 2016
In an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, Trump fought back against the idea that he hadn’t made any sacrifices.
"Who wrote that? Did Hillary's script writers write it?" Trump said. Khan declined the use of a speechwriter, according to Politico
"I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard,” Trump said.
Trump
also went after Ghazala Khan, who stood beside her husband during his
speech but did not speak. Trump implied that she may not have been
allowed to speak because of her religion.
Ghazala Khan has since fired back, saying that she had been invited to speak but was too upset to do so.
July 31, 2016
Khizr Khan said on CNN's State of the Union that Trump had a "black soul."
Meanwhile,
Trump attempted to tamp down the controversy by saying the debate
was about “radical Islamic terror.” He also called the captain a hero
before saying that Khan had “viciously attacked” him.
Captain
Khan, killed 12 years ago, was a hero, but this is about RADICAL
ISLAMIC TERROR and the weakness of our "leaders" to eradicate it!

Later that night, Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, issued a statement:
"Donald
Trump and I believe that Captain Humayun Khan is an American hero and
his family, like all Gold Star families, should be cherished by every
American.
Captain Khan gave his life to defend our country in the
global war on terror. Due to the disastrous decisions of Barack Obama
and Hillary Clinton, a once stable Middle East has now been overrun by
ISIS. This must not stand.
By suspending immigration from
countries that have been compromised by terrorism, rebuilding our
military, defeating ISIS at its source and projecting strength on the
global stage, we will reduce the likelihood that other American families
will face the enduring heartbreak of the Khan family.
Donald Trump will support our military and their families and we will defeat the enemies of our freedom."

The feud continued, with Khizr Khan appearing on multiple morning shows blasting the GOP nominee.
“This candidate amazes me," Khan said on NBC's Today show.
"His ignorance — he can get up and malign the entire nation, the
religions, the communities, the minorities, the judges and yet a private
citizen in this political process. … I cannot say what I feel?"
For his part, Trump did little to defuse the uproar.
Mr. Khan, who does not know me, viciously attacked me from the stage of the DNC and is now all over T.V. doing the same - Nice!

This
story is not about Mr. Khan, who is all over the place doing

Meanwhile,
Arizona Sen. John McCain, once the target of a controversial Trump
critique himself, denounced the Republican nominee's latest remarks,
saying he hoped "Americans understand that the remarks do not represent
the views of our Republican Party, its officers, or candidates.”
