Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gestures as he acknowledges the crowd at the end of the Republican National Convention.
Donald Trump just finished the longest convention acceptance speech in over 40 years.
Per CSPAN, longest acceptance speech since 1972 was Bill (natch) in '96 at 64:44.— Carrie Dann (@CarrieNBCNews) July 22, 2016

Trump spoke for about an hour and 15 minutes, which is over 35
minutes longer than Obama and Romney’s addresses to their respective
conventions in 2012, about 27 minutes longer than the average acceptance
speech since 1972 (48 minutes and 15 seconds), and a little over 10
minutes longer than the previous 1972-and-after record holder (Bill
Clinton’s 1996 convention stemwinder, which clocked in at nearly an hour
and five minutes).
The wearying length of Trump's speech definitely didn't go unnoticed on Twitter.
Trump keeps talking about doing things fast. Everything but this speech, apparently.— Jon Ralston (@RalstonReports) July 22, 2016
This speech is longer than all of Trump's tweets combined.— Jon Favreau (@jonfavs) July 22, 2016
You can tell Trump is a builder because this speech didn't finish on time or under budget— Bobby Big Wheel (@BobbyBigWheel) July 22, 2016
This Trump speech was so long LeBron and the Cavs are waiting outside of The Arena for their home opener. #tytlive— Jayar Jackson (@JayarJackson) July 22, 2016
Jesus, Fidel, wrap it up.— Michael C Moynihan (@mcmoynihan) July 22, 2016
Of course, under Trump, complaints about the length of the Dear Leader's speeches will be banned.
